Burns in the 11/30/2000 Great Falls Tribune:
"At the end of November 2000, Conrad Burns said he would like to see an end to Gore's legal efforts in Florida. Burns said, "Mr. Gore should step aside and let the Bush team begin its orderly transition to the presidency."
And Allen on the Today show 11/8/2000:
"The morning after Election Day 2000, when Florida was counting absentee ballots, George Allen said, "we'll need to move America forward as soon
as those votes are cast."
There's no question both will choose to serve themselves rather than whatever principles were in effect in 2000. Heck, if such service is good enough for Joe Lieberman...
I'm reminded of November 2000 and the Supreme's majority and their loopy decision that allowed Bush to become President. It was a coup. d'etat. How else to explain their working around the Constitution's provisions while selectively applying some of them to benefit the candidate of the party they identify with?
Over six years I have asked the question of a various Republicans, "Would the Republican majority have delivered the exact same decision if the shoe had been on the other, Gore's foot?" With one exception, each one has given the no-brainer answer, they would have ruled agianst Gore and for a full recount.
The Bush reign and the royalist fantasy got its start with this one vote victory.
Still, recount the votes in Montana and Virginia and make it official. Then, bring back the Constitution and repair the wounds King George is responsible for.
